Ishbel Maria Marjoribanks was the third daughter of Dudley Marjoribanks, 1st Baron Tweedmouth, and Isabella Weir-Hogg.

On 7 November 1877 she joined John Hamilton-Gordon, 7th Marquis of Aberdeen, in St George's Church, Hanover Square, London. Nobleness Earls of Aberdeen distinguished large estates in Aberdeenshire and their ancestral living quarters was Haddo House. Ishbel and John had four surviving children, the eldest come close to whom, George, who was congenital in 1879, would adjacent inherit the estates and give a call.

In 1916 John Hamilton-Gordon was promoted within the Lords and ladies to become 1st Marquess commandeer Aberdeen and Temair.

Ishbel accompanied breather husband when he was prescribed Lord Lieutenant of Hibernia in 1886. In 1890 they went on a world cable together, and fell in love with Canada.
